Sydney LudwigSydney Ludwig began her dance journey at the age of two beginning in ballet classes twice a week, and by the age of four, she danced five days a week and was on her competitive dance journey. Sydney currently trains in a variety of dance styles including Acro, Ballet (including Pointe), Contemporary Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Musical Theater, Stage, and Tap. She has won many local and international titles in numerous competitions over the years.
Currently, Sydney is attending Simon Fraser University (“SFU”), where she is majoring in Dance and hoping to minor in Education. At SFU, her training is furthered by outstanding figures from the dance community, including Henry Daniel, who attended the Boston Conservatory and The Juilliard School, Megan Walker Straight, a graduate of the University of California; Berkeley, who had toured with the Cunningham Company for many years. Additionally, but not limited to, Marla Eist who performed with DC Contemporary Dance Theatre, The Green Room (New York City), and Sybil Dance Company in Philadelphia. At the age of eleven, Sydney became a student teacher and her passion for teaching grew as did her experience as a leader. By finding intuitive ways to work on technique, she strives to make dancers feel special in their own way. Sydney places great importance on being a positive role model for young dancers. Further, Sydney owes much of her success to her teachers who have played an important role in molding her as the dancer and person she is today. In addition to choreographing group dances, she very much enjoys working on solos as well. Her favorite part of the dance process is being able to synthesize real life experiences and creativity into choreography. She is eager to share her passion for dance with Artistic Edge Dance Academy. |
